According to the reps for the Tony Awards, the Tony Awards Administration Committee met for the first time today to discuss the eligibility of three productions that have already opened on Broadway this season. This committee will meet a total of five times throughout the 2013-2014 season to determine the eligibility of all shows, performers, designers, et al, for the 68th Annual Tony Awards.
The three productions discussed included First Date, Soul Doctor, and Romeo and Juliet. The committee has decided that “Eric Anderson will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical category for his performance in Soul Doctor,” according to the press release, which added, “All other eligibility determinations were consistent with the show’s opening night credits.”
The 68th Annual Tony Awards will be broadcast live on CBS from the historic Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on Sunday, June 8, 2014, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET with a PT time delay.
