The Seattle Women’s Chorus will present an evening of swing-style tunes for their show honoring “Rosie the Riveter” — the women who went to work when the men went to war during World War II. The show, We Can Swing It!, will play at Seattle Center’s Cornish Playhouse for five performances February 6 through 9, 2014, with a special performance in Bremerton on February 23, 2014 .
The 200 voices of the Seattle Women’s Chorus will be joined for a special guest appearance by the local 17-piece all-female group, The MoodSwings Jazz Band.
Some of the famous songs included in the show are “Minnie the Moocher”, “Sophisticated Lady”, Tuxedo Junction”, and “The Lady is a Tramp.” According to the press release: “By mixing storytelling and song, SWC relays how women found their own empowerment in ways that surprised not only the country, but often the female workers themselves.”
Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) will be provided at the February 8 – 2:00pm performance.
