George Takei’s new musical Allegiance, set during World War II, has posted an audition notice for male mixed-race Asian dancers, aged 20s to 30s. The auditions will be held at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at 405 West 55th Street at 9th Avenue in New York City.
Be prepared to dance in character shoes and sneakers. After the dance portion, you may be asked to sing 16 bars of a classic Musical Theatre song along form Rodgers & Hammerstein, Gershwin, Porter, etc., due to the era in which the show takes place. Alternately, you may sing something from contemporary Musical Theatre such as Ahrens & Flaherty or Jason Robert Brown. But absolutely DO NOT sing a pop or rock song.
Bring you headshot, bio/resume stapled together for the casting team, and bring your sheet music for the accompanist.
This audition is open to Equity and non-Equity.
