Tony Award Winner Kinky Boots to Open in Australia in 2016 - Musical Theatre MagazineProducers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig are thrilled to announce that Kinky Boots, the Tony and Grammy Award-winning hit musical, will receive an Australian production next October at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne. “I’m thrilled to announce that the Australian premiere season of Kinky Boots the musical will be hosted in Melbourne, the theatre and arts capital of the country,” said Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews.

“People’s reactions to Kinky Boots have been amazing from the very beginning. By the end of the show, the audiences are on their feet clapping and dancing and cheering – what more could you possibly ask for?” said the show’s composer Cyndi Lauper. “And the show has a ton of heart; it feels like such an honor to be part of something that makes people so happy.”

Kinky Boots tells the uplifting and heartwarming tale of Charlie Price, a young man reluctantly taking over his family’s struggling business. Charlie meets and finds inspiration in Lola; and together, the unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible … and discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.

The winner of six 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a Tony Award-winning score by Lauper, a book by Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell.
