Andrew Lloyd Webber Announces Sierra Boggess for Broadway’s ‘School of Rock’ This Fall


Sierra Boggess to star in Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway musical School of RockAndrew Lloyd Webber has announced that Sierra Boggess will take on the role of ‘Rosalie Mullins’, the school principal, in School of Rock—The Musical when it starts performances on Broadway this fall. She joins the previously announced Alex Brightman, who will star as Dewey Finn. Previews are set to begin Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening night set for Sunday, December 6, 2015. 

“Sierra is a magical performer,” Mr. Lloyd Webber said. “She was a brilliant Christine Daaé in Phantom, and I’m delighted she’ll have this chance to show off her considerable comedic chops in the role of the Rosalie in School of Rock.”

Sierra Boggess is currently starring on Broadway in It Shoulda Been You opposite Tyne Daly under the direction of David Hyde Pierce. Other Broadway credits include The Phantom of the Opera (also the 25th Anniversary engagement), the revival of Master Class, and The Little Mermaid (Drama Desk and Drama League noms.). London credits include Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera (Royal Albert Hall), and Love Never Dies (Olivier Award nom.). Other New York credits include Guys & Dolls opposite Nathan Lane, Patrick Wilson, and Megan Mullally (Carnegie Hall); Love, Loss, and What I Wore and Music in the Air (Encores!).

Based on the Paramount movie written by Mike White, School of Rock has a book by Julian Fellowes, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and new music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. School of Rock—The Musical will be directed by Laurence Connor (currently represented on Broadway by Les Miserables).

School of Rock—The Musical will feature Choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, Scenic and Costume Design by Anna Louizos, Lighting Design by Natasha Katz, Sound Design by Mick Potter, and Music Supervision by Ethan Popp.

School of Rock is produced on Broadway by Andrew Lloyd Webber for The Really Useful Group, Warner Music Group & Access Industries, The Shubert Organization, and The Nederlander Organization. Nina Lannan and Madeleine Lloyd Webber serve as Executive Producers.
